LOVE-LACE VEIL
36” x 60”
oil on canvas
Part of the series Scaffolding series:
This collection focuses on the concept of scaffolding, both in the structural and the developmental sense. Scaffolding is supportive but not determinate. It doesn’t define, rather it provides a framework which offers many perspectives. I am interested in what holds us up: as an individual, as a community, and in our surroundings.
Love-Lace Veil is about finding your grandmother’s veil in her closet and using it for your own wedding. It’s about growing a rose bush from your neighbor’s cutting, when she is no longer able to care for her own roses. It’s about daydreaming of your true love. It’s about playing dress up with your little one. It’s about paper dolls. It’s about love.
